Ann was brought up in rural North Yorkshire where her understanding of the countryside and keen interest in nature was formed.

Educated at Richmond School, Ann ‘opted’ for the indoors, pursuing a full-time, varied career in banking that took her all over the UK.

Becoming increasingly disillusioned with the financial sector, Ann began studying a National Diploma in Countryside Management as a mature student in 1997 - earning a distinction and being awarded the NFU Upper Wharfedale Branch Cup for Environmental Studies in 1999.

Having enjoyed both ‘job satisfaction’ as a voluntary worker in the environmental sector and the challenge of learning once more, Ann resigned from NatWest after more than 22 years service, setting up AB Consultancy in May 2001.

Since then, she has completed a Higher National Diploma in Ecology and Conservation Management (specialising in Ornithology) - earning another distinction and being awarded the Duchy of Lancaster Scholarship (First Prize) in 2002.

Ann has been a member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management since 2003 and undertakes Continuing Professional Development each year.

She now draws on her rural ‘roots’ and ongoing learning to provide impartial advice to farmers and landowners on how management can help wildlife. Satisfied, that through independence, she is able to deliver a package of personalised, professional, efficient work at a fair price.
